Kristen Fisher Ratan is the Chief Publications and Product Officer at the Public Library of Science (PLOS). She joined PLOS in the summer of 2011 in order to focus her efforts on using policy, best practices, tools and technologies to transform scholarly communication. Kristen has a 20 year history in the information industry leading strategic innovations at HighWire, Atypon, and BIOSIS. She holds a Masters in Biomedical Science from Mount Sinai Medical School, with a focus in Neuroscience, and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Chicago. She lives in the San Francisco with her family.
