As Vice President of Marketing for ebrary, Mr. Barnes leads strategic marketing, communications, product marketing, and partner relations. In this role he is focused on ensuring ebrary develops products and services that help libraries deliver relevant content to their patrons in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible.

Previously, Mr. Barnes was appointed to this position after serving as ebrary’s Vice President of North American Sales, where he was instrumental in driving the company’s growth.

Prior to joining ebrary, Mr. Barnes was a consultant at R2 Consulting specializing in selection to access workflow analysis in academic libraries. As part of R2, he analyzed and optimized processes in a wide variety of libraries ranging from some of the most recognized research libraries in the world to highly specialized institutions with very small memberships. His time at R2 provided deep insight into the everyday challenges libraries face developing and optimizing collections for patrons.

Prior to R2, he held several key strategic roles at Blackwell Book Services, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he was responsible for demand generation in the western hemisphere.

Mr. Barnes is a frequent presenter at library conferences on the topics of electronic resources and maintaining the integrity of library collections in the face of budget pressure.
